Kericho: Man hacks wife, 2 children to death
- According to Kericho Police boss James Mugera, the man identified as Gideon Cheruiyot Langat, arrived home last evening, locked the house from inside and begun beating his wife.
- Mugera further narrated how residents who heard the woman's distress call rushed to the home and tried to rescue the family members against the man who was already armed with a panga.
- The man is further reported to have threatened to attack the villagers returned back to his house, hacked the remaining child before fleeing the home.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly hacked his wife, child and nephew to death over a domestic squabble.
According to Kericho Police boss James Mugera, the man identified as Gideon Cheruiyot Langat, arrived home in Kiptenden village on Thursday evening, locked the house from inside and started assaulting his his wife.
Mugera further narrated how residents who heard the woman’s distress call rushed to the home and tried to rescue the family members from the alleged attacker who was armed with a panga.
Cheruiyot is said to have threatened to attack the neighbours before going back to the house and hacked the three.
The incident was reported at Sondu police station where police officers rushed to the scene and moved the bodies to Sigowet Sub-County hospital mortuary.
The police boss now says that the accused has since been arrested after he was found hiding inside a cubicle inside Cheptenye Boys High School compound in Belgut Constituency.
The accused will be arraigned in court soon.
