KESPHA Opposes Use Of KCPE To Rank Schools

KEPSHA chairman John Karuga said the use of Kenya Certificate Of Primacy Education (KCPE) as a way of ranking both public and private schools was unfair.

Karuga faulted the government for not ensuring a fair platform for public schools to compete with private schools in the crucial exams.

Speaking at a workshop at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Karuga called for an overhaul of the ranking system as it demoralizes those in most public schools.

He also called on government to hire more teachers to deal with the shortage in public schools.

Karuga further asked the examination council KNEC to seek a fairer way of ranking pupils in public schools during exams.
