Khalwale hides to avoid beating

Kakamega Senator Dr Bonny Khalwale was forced to hide in a public toilet after rowdy youth said to be supporters of Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero threatened to rough him up.

The angry youth, who were chanting pro-Kidero slogans, attempted to attack the Senator over his remarks linking the city governor to the financial crisis facing the Mumias Sugar Company Limited.

It took the intervention of the Senator’s security details to block the youth who were baying for his blood.

Khalwale and Kidero have been at loggerheads since the Senator made allegations linking the Governor to Mumias Sugar downfall.

In his speech during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Mumias last month, Khalwale labelled Kidero as the “prefect of corruption” alleging that he (Kidero) is the cause of the financial crisis facing the sugar milling giant.

In his defence, Kidero rubbished the allegations saying he helped grow the company’s profits. He added that he left the company in a better position in 2012.

Kidero sued the Kakamega Senator for defamation and successfully sought conservatory orders barring Khalwale from commenting or causing to comment on the collapse of Mumias Sugar until the case (defamation) is heard and determined.

Khalwale was at the Milimani courts during the mention of the case (defamation).
