Kiambu County Govt Dismisses Health Workers Strike Notice

The county government has instead urged the Union to confirm salaries for the health workers with the banks.

 

In a statement to the press, the county government insists that statements in the notice were lacking facts and accuracy and that they were aimed at crippling development in the county.

 

“We wish to assure all the doctors, nurses, clinical officers and all cadres of health care workers working within the county that we will continuously put more efforts to improve the remunerations, working environments, as well as build capacities to improve the lives of workers in our county,” the statement read.

 

Th county government has further assured the union that it will address some genuine issues raised by the health workers.

 

The strike notice was issued by the Secretary General, Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union, Sultani Matendechero on August 22 over some grievances demanded by the Union.

 

Some of the issues raised in the notice include; Non – Payment of new Medical Officers, arbitrary transfers, overdue promotions and delayed payment of salaries of workers among others.
