Kiambu Governor James Nyoro names new cabinet

Kiambu Governor Dr. James Nyoro on Wednesday shook up the cabinet in a bid to have a firm grip on the county’s management after his takeover last month.

Nyoro, in the reshuffle, cracked the whip on two County Executive Members who are perceived close allies of his predecessor Ferdinand Waititu.

Juliet Kimemia lost the Roads and Transport docket, and the Education slot was snatched from Ng’ang’a Kang’ethe.

In the cabinet shakeup, Nyoro made good his bid to have Mburu Kang’ethe take charge of the Finance docket while Dr. Joseph Murega also made a return after Waititu previously kicked him out.

Mary Kamau and James Maina were assigned the Education and Lands dockets respectively.

David Kimani will be in charge of the Water portfolio, while Isabel Waiyaki and Margaret Waithera were allocated the Youth and Public Service dockets.

Joseph Kamau will be take charge of Agriculture, while former Gatundu North lawmaker Kigo Njenga survived the axe but was moved from Finance to the Trade docket.

Samuel Mugo will be in charge of the Roads and Transport ministry whereas Dr. Martin Njogu retained his job as County Secretary.

Governor Nyoro also settled on Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi as his deputy, subject to approval by the County Assembly.
