Kiambu residents repair road by ‘adopting potholes’

Residents of Gachie Kihara area in Kiambu County have embarked on an initiative that seeks to repair potholes on roads after their outcry to the leaders to renovate the dilapidated 14km road in the area proved futile.

Through a project dubbed Adopt a Pothole, a group of 200 residents, with the help of a few non-governmental organizations, have managed to contribute Sh100,000 that has been used to mend potholes on the road, with every resident taking up the initiative to cover up holes that are proximate to them.

According to the residents, the government has remained deaf to their repeated calls to repair the poor road that has caused many accidents, besides being a major setback for business people in the area.

The residents are no now challenging their leaders to chip in and tarmac the repaired road to enable residents run their activities smoothly.
