Kibaki, family in Othaya for Mama Lucy burial preparations

Retired President Mwai Kibaki travelled to his home in Othaya Thursday as preparations for the burial of his wife, the late Mama Lucy Kibaki enter the final phase.

Kibaki’s family travelled to their Othaya home to identify the grave site where his wife of 54 years will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Preparations at the Othaya Approved School, where a funeral service will be held, were also in the homestretch.

Several schools in the area including Othaya Boys Secondary have been identified as landing areas for helicopters as well as parking spaces for vehicles that will transport the over 2,000 people expected to attend the ceremony.

The convoy transporting the body of Mama Lucy will leave Lee Funeral Home at 6AM on Saturday for a brief stop-over at the Kibakis’ Muthaiga home in Nairobi before heading to Othaya.
