Kibicho: 4 Kenyans Killed In South Sudan

Speaking to the media, Foreign Affairs PS Karanja Kibicho says three Kenyan Muslims who were killed were buried in South Sudan and the remaining one will be brought back home as soon Kenyan planes are allowed to land in Bor.

Kibicho further indicated that evacuation efforts by the Kenya Defence Forces will end on Friday for those still willing to return home.

155 Kenyans were flown back home from the troubled S.Sudan on Thursday.

The PS said that 3,000 Kenyans had been brought back home.

He added that another 7,000 have refused to come back home prefering to continue with their businesses.

Meanwhile, peace talks to end hostilities between President Salva Kiir and his former deputy Riek Machar spearheaded by Inter Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are now underway in Ethiopia.

So far, negotiators from President Salva Kiir and those from rebel leader Dr Riek Machar agreed in principle to reach a monitored cessation of hostilities.

Fighting erupted in Juba, in mid-December 2013 following a power struggle between President Salva Kiir, who comes from the majority Dinka community and his Nuer ex-deputy Riek Machar.

The two leaders have insisted that the strife was political and not tribal.

The violence in South Sudan has so far seen over 1,000 people killed and thousands displaced.
