Kidero arrest: Anti-riot police deployed to EACC

A contingent of anti-riot police has been deployed to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi where former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is being held after he was arrested on Wednesday evening.

The security reinforcement was prompted by the presence of Kidero supporters who began milling around the EACC offices demanding for his release, setting the stage for a showdown with the police.

Kidero’s lawyer Prof. Tom Ojienda, MPs Gladys Wanga and Lilian Gogo have been allowed access to the former Nairobi Governor, with the other supporters being blocked outside EACC offices.

Citizen Digital has learnt that EACC detectives plan to detain Kidero until Thursday morning when he will be arraigned in court to face corruption related charges.

Kidero was arrested at a Nairobi hotel at around 5pm on the orders of the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji.
