Kidero calls for cleansing of voters register

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero says he fully supports the cleansing and auditing of the voters register ahead of next year’s General Election.

Kidero, who was speaking at the Divine Mercy Church in Kariobangi South, lamented that the Nairobi voters’ register is tainted. He argued that register cannot be trusted as voters have been ‘imported’ from neigbouring counties.

This comes even as the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy has dropped calls for a fresh voter register, instead demanding for a forensic audit of the voters’ list.

Touching on the race for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, Kidero said that anyone is free to vie – but he asked voters to chose a leader that has a clear understanding of their needs.

He was  accompanied by the Chairman of the County Public Service Board, Philip Kungu, Nairobi County Secretary Dr Ayisi and the County Executive in charge of County Public Service Management  Mercy Kamau.
