Kidero, Darling Kenya to empower youth

Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero has said that the County Government of Nairobi will join hands with investors in order to create jobs for the youth.

Dr Kidero says he has rolled out a plan that will see his government collaborate with individuals and companies to create more opportunities for the young generation.

Kidero, who was meeting the Management of Darling Kenya at their Industrial Area, Nairobi offices, said they have agreed to work together to enhance quality of service and terms of employees.

“We have held very successful talks with Darling Kenya’s management and we will closely work together to ensure more youth get job opportunities,” he said.

“We are looking at expanding this plan beyond Darling Kenya to incorporate more investors in our output as a county government.”

He congratulated Darling Kenya – one of Africa’s leading hair and weaves producers – for diplomatically resolving a pay dispute that had threatened to interfere with its operations after production employees threatened to go on strike.

Darling Kenya Chief Executive Officer Mahmoud Saffideen said they are an equal employer and are already carrying out outreach campaigns to empower more youths and save them from the bondage of joblessness.

“We look beyond employment. We want to see a more empowered society and youth who are self-reliance,” said Mr Saffideen.

“Apart from the business part of it, we also venture so much in youth and community empowerment to reduce joblessness, which in turn creates a generation of development conscious individuals.”

Dr Kidero and Mr Saffideen challenge other corporates to pool together more resources and ensure as many youth as possible benefit from them.
