Kidero files complaint against Jeff Koinange over Wednesday’s show

Nairobi County Governor Dr Evans Kidero has threatened to sue TV host Jeff Koinange alongside the Standard Media Group for defamation.

In a complaint filed with the Media Council of Kenya, Kidero faults the Mr Koinange for allowing his panel, in particular, former senior advisor and chief strategist of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga Miguna Miguna to malign him by calling him a thief, which he termed as failure to adhere to professional journalistic ethics.

Kidero says Miguna has defamed him on four previous occasions on the same platform (Jeff Koinange Live) and that the host has done little or nothing at all to discourage Miguna Miguna from making libelous comments about him.

“…it was fairly obvious that, not only did the anchor allow him to bismarch my character but urged him on to do so,” Kidero noted.

”I am writing to you as a custodian of journalistic ethics and standards to look into the issue and take necessary quality assurance remedial measures,” read his letter in part

In a show aired on Wednesday, Miguna asked him to vacate office claiming that under Kidero’s watch the Auditor general has documented more than Ksh100 billion lost or unaccounted for.

“If they are scared of me, they should get out of the way, they should surrender so that I can go and take over at City Hall,” dared Miguna

“We are going to take over City Hall so if he has already surrendered am ready to go,” said Miguna

Miguna was featured alongside Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant and entrepreneur Esther Passaris.
