Kidero, Mutua lead gubernatorial races with one year to polls
Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero is leading in the gubernatorial race with a 36% approval rating, six points ahead of Senator Gidion Mbuvi alias Mike Sonko who has an approval rating of 30%.
In an opinion poll by Tifa Research firm, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru – all who have expressed interest to replace Kidero at City Hall – have received a 3% approval rating each.
Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, who is latest politician to express interest in the City’s top seat, has received a 1% approval rating with another 17% of the voters still undecided on who to vote for.
In the Senate race, Sonko would easily clinch the seat having received a 39% approval rating. Elizabeth Ongoro comes a distance second with 9% followed by Beth Mugo at 8%. A large population of the voters remain undecided at 31%.
Esther Passaris would beat Rachael Shebesh by eight points after receiving an approval rating of 28% against Shebesh’s 20%.
Despite facing opposition from his Wiper Party, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua would easily retain his position after receiving a overwhelming 81% approval rating. He is followed from a distance by Senator Johnstone Muthama at 8%.
In Kiambu County, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu leads the gubernatorial race with 49% against the incumbent William Kabogo’s 22% while 18% of the voters are still undecided.
