A new poll suggests that the National Super Alliance (NASA) has the strongest support base in Nairobi County.

According to the poll conducted between July 1 and 2, 2017 across all the 17 sub-counties of Nairobi by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA), the support base of NASA has been on the rise since July 2016 and a year down the lane it stands at 56% in July 2017.

The ruling Jubilee Party’s popularity on the other hand has been dwindling over the same period and currently stands at 34%.

The poll also suggests that incumbent Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero, and Senator Mike Sonko are locked in a closely contested gubernatorial race but Kidero would successfully defend his seat if elections were to be held today.

Kidero, who is the ODM candidate, has a 44% popularity rating while Sonko of the Jubilee Party comes second at 43% popularity. Independent candidate, Peter Kenneth coming a distant third with an approval rating of 4% while Miguna Miguna comes fourth with a 1% popularity rating.

The research, however, shows that Jubilee’s Johnson Sakaja will have an easy ride capturing the city’s senatorial seat having a 39% approval rating.

His closest challenger, ODM’s Edwin Sifuna, comes second with a 28% popularity rating.

However, a 29% of voters are still undecided as to whom they will vote for in these position a month to the August 8 General Election.

ODM’s Esther Passaris is the most popular Nairobi Women Representative candidate with 57% of voters preferring her to the incumbent, Jubilee’s Rachel Shebesh, who has an approval rating of 25%.
