Kidero Returns Roundabouts Temporarily

This comes after several complaints that the interventions put in place to tackle the chaos on the roads had not borne fruit.

Motorists stuck in traffic jams all over the city as vehicles slowly inched towards their destinations, welcomed the news that the county government of re-opening the Bunyala and Lusaka roundabouts even if only for a short while.

“To ease congestion we have decided to reopen the Nyayo and Bunyala roundabouts,” said Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero.

‘Drumabouts’ removed for three days

The two roundabouts were at the centre of special interventions by the county government in its bid to ease traffic snarl-ups that only seemed to worsen by the day.

Days into the closure of the roundabouts, motorists using the Westlands roundabout reported a marked improvement, with traffic flowing freely.

However, this was not the case for those using the Lusaka and Bunyala roundabouts.

The barriers that blocked the roundabouts, in the process earning themselves the nickname drumabouts, will be removed and city residents will be able to use the roundabouts for three days only starting Wednesday.
