Kijana Wamalwa property tussle: Children blame CS Wamalwa

The property tussle over former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa’s assets continues to deepen.

A section of the former vice president’s children now claim their step family is scheming to get the lion’s share of the Wamalwa estate.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Friday, Michelle Wamalwa Chichi, the last born child of Kijana Wamalwa and Derek Mboya, a step-son accused Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa of teaming up with their relatives to remove them from their father’s estate.

In a quick rejoinder, Alice Muthoni Wamalwa, said to be Kijana Wamalwa’s first born daughter whom they also accused of being part of the ploy, denied those claims saying that she is the sole executor of the estate after the passing on of Yvonne Wamalwa on 25th January 2018.

In a press statement, Alice sought to clarify her position detailing how they were managing the estate with the late Yvonne Wamalwa since they had been appointed as Joint administrators of the family’s estate on behalf of the five children, who are the legal beneficiaries of the property.

Alice listed the five children as; Jabali Wamalwa, who she said is residing in Denmark, Alice Muthoni Wamalwa (herself) , William Wamalwa Big,  William Wamalwa Small and Michelle Wamalwa Chichi.

In her statement, Alice further termed Derek Mboya, a step-son to the late Kijana Wamalwa who is the applicant in the case as a stranger adding that he does not represent their family’s interests.

“We were surprised to see through the media yesterday, a statement by Mr. Derek Mboya touching on matters relating to our late father’s estate to which he is a stranger as he is neither a beneficiary nor an authorized person to speak on our behalf” said Alice.

In a recorded interview, Derek Mboya told Citizen TV that he resorted to taking the matter to court since he was unable to compete with the influence held by his relatives who he said were powerful people.

“The people who are fighting against us are extremely influential and respected, they are on TV every day with the President or the Deputy President” said Duke Mboya.

Alice however intimated that they were in the process of finalizing the distribution of the estate when their mother, Yvonne Wamalwa passed away.

It was after their mother’s death that they were unable to agree on the fair distribution of property among the siblings which led them to seek advice from court.

Michelle Wamalwa Chichi who also spoke alongside Derek complained of neglect which she said prompted her to also join in as an interested party in the case.

The two accused Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa of teaming up with their relatives to remove them from their father’s estate.

The matter that is now in court has already forced Kijana Wamalwa’s last born daughter, Michelle Wamalwa, out of school for over one year.

“ If you want to continue with school… If you want food, then sell the house,” Michelle claims is the response she always gets.
