Kilimani residents file new case against B Club, Kiza, Space Lounge and Explorer Tavern

Kilimani residents have filed a case against B Club Nairobi, Kiza Restaurant and Lounge, Space Lounge and Grill as well as Explorer Tavern.

The residents under the Kilimani Project Foundation argue that the operation of the four entertainment clubs exposes them to serious health and security risks.

In a new petition in which they are citing contempt of court, the residents argue that their rights to a clean and healthy environment will continuously be violated by the clubs.

The Director of Environment Nairobi City County, National Environments Management Authority, the chairperson Alcoholic Drinks and Licensing Board, Nairobi County and the County Government of Nairobi have been named as respondents.

The residents cited a court order that reads: “The 1st respondent’s continuous operations within the applicant’s area of residence is an outright act of disobedience and disregard of the judgement and order of the court given on October 17, 2019.”

The Kimilani residents claim that despite the order, the four clubs have continued to conduct business within the area and disturb the peace.

They claim that they are aggrieved by the conduct of the aforementioned clubs which according to them have become a nuisance.

Through lawyer Cecil Miller , the residents claim that the clubs play loud music daily and host rowdy drunken revellers thereby depriving them of sleep and security.

“What goes on these establishment is causing a bad influence to the children thus violating their rights and fundamental freedoms,” they added.
