He said action will be taken against the officers if they are found to have misused their firearms during the incident.

Terming the incident as unfortunate, Kimaiyo vowed to deal decisively with any officer who fires their gun carelessly in the line of duty.

Kimaiyo also put county police commanders on notice saying they will be held responsible if their juniors misuse their firearms.

"I ask county commanders to rein in on criminal officers under them" Kimaiyo said.

He gave the order this morning while in Mombasa during a meeting with all Administration Police commanders.

He spoke even as two leaders from Makueni County recorded the statement over the shooting incident that saw five people injured.

Makueni Speaker Stephen Ngelu and county's Majority Leader Francis Mutuku recorded the statements at CID offices at Makueni police station over the shooting incident.
