Kipchirchir Boinnet Nominated To Replace Kimaiyo

Boinnet who is a career policeman holds two master’s degrees, one in security policy from the Australian National Security University and another in diplomatic studies from the University of Westminster.

He also has a degree in international studies and diplomacy from the Washington University besides other qualifications in strategic, public management and leadership development.

While nominating Boinnet, President Kenyatta described him as an accomplished public officer “with in-depth knowledge in strategic and security areas drawn from training.

Boinett has more than 30 years of experience spanning national, continental and international levels.

Boinett, 52, joined the police service in 1984 and rose through the ranks to become a senior superintendent of police.

He was then transferred to the National Intelligence Service in 1998.

The President added that he is convinced Boinett will take the National Police Service to the next level.

President Kenyatta has meanwhile appointed deputy IG Samuel Arachi to act as Inspector General of police before Boinett is vetted and approved by the National Assembly.

The Head of State also appointed former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo as chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority.

Present at the function were interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, PS  Monica Juma and National Police Service Commission chairman Johnston Kavuludi.
