Led by their deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri, residents of Kirinyaga county have heaped praise on President Kenyatta for CS Kiunjuri’s ouster.
The county government said the move could not have come at a better time, accusing Kiunjuri of running down the Agriculture Sector.
Ndambiri who was speaking after visiting Riandira village where locusts were reportedly sighted accused Kiunjuri of playing politics when he should have been working.
“We have been experiencing problems with people running around seeking leadership positions for 2022 instead of working as required, we need somebody who can help us on matters of agriculture,” Ndambiri said
In the same breath, he reiterated that Kiunjuri should have been on the ground with farmers seeking solutions for the locust menace wreaking havoc on several counties.
Ndambiri also expressed optimism that the incoming CS Peter Munya would be more hands-on in bolstering the Agriculture sector- the backbone of the Kenyan economy.
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday Morning in which Kiunjuri was shown the door.
