Kirinyaga: Father reports 25yr-old son to police for growing bhang in his house

Police in Kirinyaga County have launched a manhunt for a 25-year-old man who was discovered to have been growing bhang inside his house.

According to Nyangati location Chief Emmacuate Wanjiru Njoka, police officers raided the house at Redsoil village in Mwea Sub-County on Thursday.

“I was wondering who was stealing manure in my compound, only to discover it was my son Mwangi who I reported to the authorities,” said Richard Muriuki, the father.

The suspect, John Mwangi, has however not been living in the house that is located within his parents’ compound.

He was residing in a rented house at Kimbimbi trading centre and police told Citizen Digital that the suspect escaped arrest during the raid.

“The suspect is at large but police are searching for him,” the Chief said adding that the officers uprooted all the stems that had been planted at the house.

The plants were taken to Wang’uru police station and will be used as exhibits in court once the suspect is arrested.
