Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru and the County Assembly of Kirinyaga members have ended a long-standing slew of differences, vowing to work together henceforth.

Speaking in Sagana, Governor Waiguru who was flanked by 20 elected MCAs led by the Assembly Majority leader said they had reached an agreement after holding talks.

“We talked, and we have agreed to unite all stakeholders including politicians, farmers and the government so that we can push Kirinyaga forward,” She said.

“We have resolved to the end the politicking so that we can focus on delivering our mandate to the people, we cannot eat politics, the citizens expect service delivery from us not fights,”

The perks of the new truce will see the formation of a committee to oversee the upgrading roads within the wards that make up the county.

Focus will lie on murraming at least 6 kilometers per ward on a weekly basis.

Governor Waiguru said a committee comprising the Majority Leader,5 elected representatives of each sub-county and technical staff from the executive will meet weekly to monitor the progress and report to the Assembly.

Further, she said the program will kick off immediately in Mwea; the roads in the region will be constructed through a joint collaboration with the County Government and the National Irrigation Board.
