Kirinyaga MCAs in talks with Governor Waiguru to end stalemate
Kirinyaga Members of the County Assembly have disclosed that they are holding secret reconciliation talks with Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru.
The talks are currently happening in Nairobi and are chaired by Mt Kenya Foundation leaders according to the Tebere Ward MCA Gudson Muchina who spoke to Citizen Digital.
The MCA also confirmed that the talks are focused on the supplementary budget as the 2020-2021 budget has already been passed.
“We agreed with them that would not discuss Kirinyaga politics but only about the budget stalemate,” Muchina said.
Earlier on, Governor Waiguru accused the County Assembly of arm twisting executive while trying to settle political scores.
The assembly, led by the chairman of the budget committee David Mathenge accuse Waiguru of ignoring advice from the office of the controller of budget under article 228 of the constitution to oversee and report on implementation of the budgets of both the national and county governments to each house of parliament every four months
On July 15, Waiguru suffered a blow after the county assembly blocked the 2020-2021 Ksh 5.6 Billion budget.
The defiant 25 out of 35 MCAs voted to reject the memorandum
So terse has been the stalemate that Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri on Saturday said the county was not really to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
