Kirinyaga: Two arrested after breaking into bar, stealing Ksh.26K

Two suspected gangsters were on Sunday arrested after breaking into a bar at Karia trading centre, Kirinyaga County, and stealing Ksh.26, 000.

Confirming the incident, Kirinyaga Police Commander Leah Kithei said officers who conducted the arrests were acting on a tip-off from members of the public, led by the bar owner Joyce Wamaitha Kiminju.

The suspected criminals, who were armed with assorted weapons, defied a police order to surrender forcing the officers to shoot one of them on the leg.

According to Ms. Kithei, one of the suspects is being held at Kerugoya Police Station while the other who sustained a gunshot injury is receiving treatment at Kerugoya County Referral Hospital under police watch.
