Kirinyaga: Woman gives birth, dumps baby in pit latrine

A 40-year-old woman from Kibingo village in Kirinyaga Central constituency, Kirinyaga County, on Sunday morning gave birth to a baby boy then dumped him in a 30ft-deep pit latrine.

According to area residents, the woman had informed the doctor who helped her give birth at a local private maternity clinic of her plans to kill the baby after giving birth.

The doctor and her assistant then informed the villagers who tried to save the baby but it was too late.

Police officers are currently on the hunt for the woman and her husband who reportedly fled immediately after committing the act.
