Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici takes battle for KEWOPA top seat to court

Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici has moved to court to challenge her removal as chairperson for Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA).

In a petition filed at the Milimani Court, Ngirici says that hat she has not been notified in writing or even verbally of any gross violations or grounds for her removal.

“My removal is inconsistent with the societies constitution which provides that a member should be expelled or removed on grounds that their conduct has adversely affected the reputation and dignity of the society,” court papers read.

She has named Gathoni Wamuchomba, Roza Buyu, Mishi Mboko and registrar of societies as respondents in the case.

On July 7, members voted to remove Purity Ngirici as chairperson and was replaced by her Kiambu counterpart Gathoni Wamuchomba.
