Kisii man chops off wifes hand for questioning his conduct

A woman is nursing injuries at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after her husband chopped off one of her hands following a protracted domestic dispute.

The 21-year-old woman, a mother of one, was attacked with a machete at Masagege village in Gucha South, Kisii County.

Speaking from her hospital bed, she said Evans Kengere Manyansa, 25, sneaked into her parents home where she had sought refuge after they had engaged in a quarrel over the man’s tendency to occasionally not return home in the evening.

When she questioned her husband over the habit, the woman claims the man got violent prompting her to flee.

She disclosed that while in her parents house, Manyansa phoned her asking her to come out of the house.

The woman claimed that after leaving the house, a brief argument arose between them before the man unleashed a panga and descended on her, injuring her on the shoulder and right arm.

Kisii County Director of Health Services, Dr. Geofrey Otomu, said the victim was out of danger and responding well to treatment.

According to the victim’s uncle, Erustus Ogembo, the couple has been in a relationship for over six years until recently when the affair turned abusive.

Police said they had launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled after the incident.
