Others were taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
The 8-month-old baby suffered bruises and has been referred to JOOTRH for further treatment.
The driver of the lorry which was heading to Kisumu is said to have lost control of the vehicle while approaching Awasi junction.
He claims that the breaks failed forcing him to veer off the road and hit people who were standing by the road side at the busy Awasi Market.
Police have since arrested the driver of the lorry pending investigations into the Kisumu accident.
Nyando OCPD Fannuel Nasio told Citizen Digital that the vehicle was towed to Ahero Police Station.
In February this year, a student from Rapogi Mixed Secondary School died while 19 others were injured in a road accident at Kombewa, Kisumu County.
Police said the school bus veered off the road and rolled as the driver tried to avoid ramming into a Public Service Vehicle (PSV).
