Kisumu blogger arrested over fake post alleging the killing of a student at Ngere Boys

The suspect behind a viral fake post alleging the killing of the school head boy at Ngere High School in Kisumu by his fellow students has been arrested.

Collins Otieno Ochieng was arrested during a joint police operation from Reru and Kombewa police stations in Seme.

West Seme location chief Nicholas Oguma says the suspect was nabbed at East Ngere sub location in his house after being tracked by DCI officers.

Ochieng is accused of posting on his social media page, Facebook, that the school head boy at Ngere high school had been killed by his fellow colleagues.

Chief Oguma says the suspect is being held at Kombewa police station and will be arraigned in court.

Police and Education officials in Seme sub county had on Sunday dismissed as fake and malicious- the reports that had spread quickly on Kenyan social media.

A video that was shared shortly after showed the school head boy- healthy as horse- leading others in Mass at their Chapel.
