Kisumu County Finance CEC Nerry Achar impeached

Kisumu County Executive Committee(CEC) Nerry Achar has been impeached.

Achar was during a special sitting on Tuesday where 37 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted in favour of adopting a report to impeach him.

Only 3 MCAs voted against adopting the report.

Achar was allegedly dogged with billions of pending bills for contractors and mishandling the current 2019/2020 budget which is yet to be passed.

Kisumu county assembly speaker Onyango Oloo has since written to Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o to officially replace him.

This comes amid a financial crisis following a stalemate in the Division of Revenue Bill.

This was after the National Assembly dealt with the Bill in a record one hour and emphatically rejected the Senate’s amendments that increased the proposed allocation to devolved units from Ksh.316.5 billion to Ksh.335.6 billion.
