Kisumu County Forms Anti-Terror Police Unit
The County Government of Kisumu has launched a special police unit to handle terrorism and other crimes in the area.
Kisumu County coordinator of security Joseph Chepkeitany said about 50 officers have been assigned in the department to deal with special crimes such as terrorism, carjacking, cattle rustling and detecting dangerous weapons.
According to Chepkeitany, seven new vehicles and special motorcycles have also been procured to promote mobility and help the officers in fighting crime in the county.
He added that the officers had undergone training on how to contain serious crimes and are set to begin work immediately.
Governor Jack Ranguma upheld the initiative saying county government would purchase more vehicles and motorcycles to the police officers to help them in the course of their duty.
