Kisumu Governor Finally Appears Before Senate Committee

Ranguma told the senate committee chaired by Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale that he had nothing to hide.

Ranguma was one of the three governors who had been summoned by the Senate but refused to appear before the upper house.

The others are Bomet governor Isaac Ruto and Kiambu governor William Kabogo.

Ranguma has in the recent past complained that senators were acting unconstitutionally by summoning governors.

The Kisumu governor maintains that he had cooperated with the Senate by sending county finance officer and chief finance officer to answer the senate’s audit queries.

The Kisumu county budget finance queries were raised in a report by the Auditor General.

Among the audit queries raised by the Auditor General is the payment of higher salaries to Kisumu county executives.

Ranguma had however blamed the Salaries and Remuneration Commission for the anomaly.

He told the committee that S.R.C had not specified the exact salary county executives are meant to be paid.
