Kisumu NGO accused of circumcising boy, 11, without consent

A parent from Homa Bay County wants to sue a Kisumu NGO for allegedly circumcising his 11-year old son without consent in December last year.

Mr. Otieno Oloo Gor claims that officers from Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) picked up his son who was 10 years old at the time and circumcised him.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on Thursday, Gor said the incident traumatised his son and they spent a lot of money as they had to take him back to hospital.

He said the officers from IRDO were conducting research and took his son to Makongeni Sub District Hospital where the operation was performed without consulting him or his wife.

Mr. Gor further revealed that on that fateful day he was alarmed by his son’s disappearance.

He added that he reported the matter to the police, only for his son to appear later in the night bleeding profusely.

However, Gor slammed the same police officers in Homabay County for allegedly not taking immediate action.

He is said to have reported the matter at Homabay Police station under occurrence book 49/11/12/2017.

The visibly angry father said he would not to let the issue rest and that he will continue seeking justice for his son so that others do not fall victim.

Officers from IRDO when contacted said that they would respond to the allegations after one week.
