Kisumu: Police hunt for suspects in ex-judges farm manager murder

Police officers in Nyanza are on the hunt for a group of suspects who killed retired judge Effie Owuor’s farm manager in Muhoroni, Kisumu County.

According to a statement posted on the National Police Service’s social media accounts, the suspects ambushed and attacked the farm manager, George Bengo, on Saturday afternoon using machetes.

Mr. Bengo was in the company of Justice Effie Owuor’s son, Paul Owuor, during the incident. Mr. Owuor, however, escaped with machete wounds and is currently admitted in hospital.

Police have reportedly identified one of the attackers as ‘Malakwen.’

“Nyanza Police Commanders have been ordered to spare no efforts in ensuring that the said Malakwen and his other accomplices in the murder, are apprehended and made to answer for their crimes in accordance with the law,” reads the statement.

“Meanwhile, we appeal to the area residents to remain calm as authorities look for the murderers. We also appeal to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the wanted murderers to promptly inform the nearest Police Officer or report to the nearest Police Station.”
