Siblings arrested after exhuming fathers remains in Kisumu

Police in Nyakach, Kisumu County, have arrested two siblings who exhumed the remains of their dead father following a land dispute in Kabodho West location.

Nyakach OCPD Henry Malova, who confirmed the arrest of the two brothers aged 20 and 15, said the duo whose father passed on in 2010, were having a dispute over communal land with their step-fathers.

Malova stated that the two siblings were irked after one of their uncles claimed that they did not have rights to inherit land.

The brothers then went ahead and dug their late father’s grave and exhumed the remains of the deceased who was buried in 2010.

The area administrator said the duo then put the remains in a sack and left to unknown destination.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Malova further said the two claimed they wanted to confirm if indeed the deceased was their father.

The two were arrested and arraigned at Nyando law Courts while the remains of their father were taken to Nyakach sub-county morgue awaiting a second burial.
