Police in Seme, Kisumu County have arrested a Form Four student at Ngere Boys while in possession of 2 liters of petrol which was to be used to allegedly burn down the school dormitory.

Confirming the incident, Seme OCPD Roslyne Cheboshwa said they received reports that the teacher on duty had spotted two boys with the 2 liters of petrol inside the the dormitory and raised alarm.

The police boss said the 18-year-old suspect will be arraigned in court tomorrow. The school was closed indefinitely.

There has been a wave of school unrest that seems to have rocked Nyanza the hardest.

According to the Ministry of Education, since last week, 10 boarding secondary schools have experienced cases of unrest. Of these, seven are arson cases that have targeted dormitories when students were undertaking their evening studies.
