Kisumu: Two-year-old finds mother dead, body burnt with acid
A two-year-old child was discovered at a Kisumu home where the body of the mother lay doused in acid.
Neighbours at Sinyolo village, North Kapuonja expressed shock saying the child crawled out of the house with blood-stained clothes.
According to West Kisumu Area Chief Mary Adhiambo, the neighbors rushed into the house and discovered the decomposing body of the mother.
It had been covered with a blanket.
Police suspect that the woman was strangled and burnt with acid on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as a teacher from Ulalo Primary School.
Police are searching for a man who was last seen on Friday morning leaving the house with a black bag.
The area chief revealed that suspect had been introduced to the deceased’s colleagues as a boyfriend.
She had lived in the area for slightly over 8 months having been posted to the school in January.
The body is at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu awaiting postmortem.
West Kisumu Ward area MCA Paul Okiri who visited the scene condemned the incident and urged police to take swift action and apprehend the suspect.
