Kisumu woman kills co-wife’s three children

A woman on Sunday, March 11 killed three of her co-wife’s children before committing suicide in Nyahera village in Kisumu County.

Jecinta Atieno is said to have enticed four of her step-children to come over to her house for a cup of porridge before committing the heinous act. One child turned down the offer.

As soon as the children – a 7-year-old girl and two boys aged 4 and 2 –  belonging to Hellen Atieno got into the house Jecinta did the unthinkable; slashing them with a machete, before hanging herself.

She committed the act as the children’s mother attended service at a nearby church.

Jecinta and Helen were living in Dago village, Nyahera in Kisumu West as their husband stayed in Nairobi with two of Jecinta’s children.

According to the neighbours, the two women had on and off disagreements with the deceased having allegedly tried to commit suicide a week ago.
