Kitui: Police looking for girl, 13, over murder of 5-year-old boy

Detectives in Kitui County are in pursuit of a missing 13 year old girl in connection with the murder of a 5 year old boy whose body was found dumped in a thicket near Mutendea River with his eyes were gouged out.

According to Benjamin Mwaka, a family member who spoke to Citizen Digital, the two – who are relatives – went to fetch firewood in a nearby bush on February 12 but the girl returned home alone in the evening claiming to have used a shorter route.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Kitui investigating the murder have since established that she disappeared from home later that night and her whereabouts are yet to be established.

Meanwhile, when the boy failed to return home , his mother reported him missing at Syongila Police Post upon which a search was mounted and the boy’s body found lying near Mutendea River at Kaveta sub-location.

Postmortem is set to be conducted on Thursday at the Kitui Level 4 Hospital morgue.
