Kiunjuri urges end to ICC celebrations

Devolution and National Planning Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has called on leaders to focus on giving services to Kenyans instead of engaging in unnecessary political rhetoric.

The CS said it was unfortunate that some leaders have resorted to frustrating and discrediting the government’s agenda by preaching division politics and portraying the government in bad light.

“Leaders should lead by example especially in the process of building our nation, instead of some going around engaging in cheap politics they should be pushing for tangible development projects,” he said.

Kiunjuri added that while ICC’s termination of cases against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang was a win for the country, the government should quickly end the celebrations and focus on delivering their pre-election pledges.

“As we head into the 2017 General Elections, the government needs to ensure they have fulfilled all the promises they made to Kenyans. At the same time Kenyans must forgive and embrace each other as we aim at achieving harmonious living amongst ourselves,” he stated.

Kiunjuri was speaking at Sopili area in Laikipia West when he attended the funeral Service of former area civic leader Bernard Ndung’u Mwangi.

The deceased, who perished in a grisly road accident along Makuyu-Thika road, was also contesting for the Laikipia West Parliamentary seat.

Others who attended the funeral service were Governor Joshua Irungu, Laikipia West MP Dr Wachira Karani, Women Representative Jane Machira Apollos and Speaker of the Laikipia County Assembly Patrick Mariru among others.

The leaders have praised the government for the infrastructural developments it was implementing, which they lauded as being greatly beneficial to the local people.

They rallied Kenyans to support the government and its development agenda saying that it is possible to realise each and every promise made.
