Kizza Besigye arrested moments after State withdraws Bobi Wine charges

Kizza Besigye, a fierce critic of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has been arrested.

This comes just moments after Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine had charges against him dropped at a military court on Thursday morning.

According to NTV Uganda, Kizza Besigye was arrested and taken to Naggalama Police Station after trying to leave his home in Kasangati.

Police and military personal had surrounded his home on early Thursday morning as Bobi Wine appeared before a military court in Gulu.

They had also surrounded the homes of two other opposition leaders; Allan Ssewanyana and Ingrid Turinawe in anticipation of anti-government protests.

Kizza Besigye is leader of the Forum for Democratic Change, the main opposition party in Uganda.
