A security officer attached to KK Security Company who was captured on camera assaulting a woman at a residential area has been suspended following an order by the Private Security Regulatory Authority.

Following investigations, the officer was identified as Philip Kiriba with the scene of the incident being Lobelia Court in Kilimani, Nairobi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Private Security Regulatory Authority CEO Fazul Mahamed said the officer is on suspension pending further disciplinary action including prosecution.

“Following preliminary investigations of the incident, we have ordered for the immediate suspension of the officer, an internal disciplinary process by the employer as well as reporting the incident to the nearest police station,” said Mr. Mahamed.

“All the orders have been adhered to and the said officer is currently on suspension.”

In the video that was widely shared on social media, the officer is seen warning a woman to stop filming him, before he proceeds to hit her.

“Unajua wakati mwingine simu zingine zinashikangwa zinapigishwa chini… Usinichukue video… sawa?” warns the officer as he walks towards the woman.

The woman declines to stop filming and is heard shouting, “niko kwangu boss… Niko kwangu boss,” before the guard hits her, interrupting the recording.

Citizen Digital understands that the woman confronted the security guard after he allegedly refused to open the gate for her in a supposed case of racial discrimination.

“He slapped me because I was recording him refusing to let my car in saying the African Tenant’s have to get permission from the Chinese management (China wuyi),” said the source of the video.
