KMPDU Threaten To Call For Strike In New Year

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union says it will call for a nationwide strike if their collective bargaining agreement with government is not implemented.

The new KMPDU officials have now issued a 5 day strike notice for the government to implement the CBA signed in June 2013.

Speaking at a news conference, KPMDU Secretary General Dr Ouma Oluga accused the Salaries and Remuneration Commission of frustrating medics.

The medics are accusing SRC of stalling the implementation of a combined bargaining agreement reached between the Ministry of Health and the doctors back in June 2013.

They say Salaries and Remuneration Commission has been frustrating their quest for their Ksh 600% pay rise.

The doctors' body further urged the Kiambu County government to resolve a stalemate between them and doctors in the county who have been on strike since December 18th.

The doctors are demanding a return to work formula to end the health crisis in the county
