KNCCI Opposes The Controversial Kiambu County Finance Bill

Speaking to the media, the County Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Chair George Muthua and his Mangu Ward counterpart Samuel Gachihi said that all contentious issues in the bill had either been deleted or amended before being passed.

The MCAs said it was unfortunate that the finance bill had been politicized adding that public participation had been observed as required by the law.

The MCAs further urged Kiambu residents to embrace the new law in a bid to ensure better service delivery.

This reaction comes just a day after showdown loomed between Kiambu County residents, their governor and county assembly members over passage of the divisive finance bill.

The residents and other stakeholders complained that they were not involved in the formulation of the bill that Kabogo has since declared publicly he would sign into law.

Reports say that the county’s finance bill was seeking Kshs. 12 billion to enable government deliver services.
