KNEC issues update on 2018 national exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has scaled up security mechanisms to ensure the credibility of this year’s national exams is not compromised.

Acting KNEC CEO Dr. Mercy Kagoro on Sunday said the examination body will be employing will a multi-agency approach in the administration of the exams to ensure there is no form of breach in the process.

“As has been the case in the last two years, all measures have been in place to ensure that examination materials are safe and no one will breach our enhanced security mechanisms at any point of the examination process,” said Dr. Kegoro in a press statement.

“The multi-agency approach of exam administration will be scaled up.”

Dr. Kagoro further urged parents and candidates to be wary of fake papers.

“The Council advises parents, candidates and other stakeholders not to be duped into purchasing any materials purported to be genuine examination questions. Parents are advised not to fall prey to schemes used by unscrupulous people to fleece unsuspecting Kenyans,” added the KNEC boss.

The council noted that preparations for the national examinations are “firmly on track”, adding that all measures had been put in place to ensure credible examinations.
