KNUT dithers on new curriculum

Primary school teachers union has refused to second the new curriculum that is soon set to be implemented by the government.

Speaking at a teachers’ forum in Eldoret, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general, Wilson Sossion, said that tutors must be persuaded that the new curriculum will work otherwise they will not approve it.

“We want to interrogate the outcome of the pilot project and subject it to a wide consultation, including having it evaluated by international experts evaluator,” said KNUT boss Sossion.

Further, Sossion demanded the government employs 20,000 teachers per year in order to reduce the teacher-student ratio problem in the country.
