KNUT wants slain IEBC presiding officer compensated

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Yatta Branch, now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to adequately compensate the family of slain Presiding Officer in Yatta who died in the course of the August 8 General Election.

The late Michael Kasulai – a teacher by profession – died on Tuesday, August 8 when he was handing over ballot boxes among other election materials in Kithimani Secondary School which was the Tallying Center for Yatta Constituency.

He died after a scramble erupted at the polling station.

“He deserves all benefits from IEBC as he had signed an agreement and died in the line of duty,” Yatta Masinga KNUT Secretary, Michael Kasimba Ngui, said.
