KPA seeking new Managing Director to replace Catherine Mturi-Wairi

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has begun the search for a Managing Director to replace Catherine Mturi-Wairi.

Through consulting firm Deloitte, the authority says the position will be on a contractual terms for a period of three years renewable.

Currently, National Construction Authority MD Daniel Manduku holds the position in an acting capacity.

Mturi-Wairi was suspended in June but opted to resign days later.

In a letter seen by Citizen Digital dated June 8, Mrs. Mturi-Wairi cited pursuit of personal interests as her reason for vacating office.

She had however been accused of inefficiency and cargo clearance delays at the port by the KPA board.

Sources further say the decision was also linked to failure by the port management to curb on illicit imports, counterfeits and contraband.

Mrs. Mturi-Wairi was appointed on July 12, 2016 having served in an acting capacity for five months.
