KQ Ordered To Pay Sacked Workers

While delivering the ruling, the three judge bench by justices Erastus Githinji, David Maraga and Agnes Murgor ordered that the workers be paid an equivalent of their nine months salary as damages for their dismissal.

The court further ruled that the Kenya Airways workers were not given the required three months notice before being laid off hence it was un-procedural.

The court however refused to order their reinstatement as KQ had complained of harsh economic times that led to the layoffs.

Kenya Airways now has three months to pay the 447 retrenched staff.
