KRA impounds goods worth Ksh.400,000 in Eldoret

Officers from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on Wednesday morning impounded goods worth Ksh.400,000 in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Confirming the incident, the Head of Customs in North Rift Valley region John Luseno, said the goods including clothing had been irregularly imported into the country and were seized at a bus parked in Eldoret town.

He added that the goods, likely coming from neighbouring countries Uganda and Tanzania, were impounded for lacking documentation to show that tax had been paid.

“We recovered assorted goods which were clothing, shoes and mtumba. We currently don’t know the owners but we have issued  an F89 which is a deposit for goods that are deposited under customs for accountability reasons. This was issued to the bus driver because he  remains to be an agent for the owners,” he said.

“So far five people, among the owners of the goods have come forward and paid Ksh.100,000 for tax.”

The KRA officials urged the rest of the owners to come forward.
